Historically, alpaca was a material reserved for Incan royalty, prized for its fine quality. Softer than cashmere and warmer and stronger than lamb’s wool, alpaca contains microscopic air pockets that create lightweight garments with excellent insulation. Completely natural, this fiber involves no harsh chemicals in production.
Alpacas roam freely in the highlands of the Peruvian Andes and are sheared humanely. Their soft feet are gentle on the grass, preserving the root system, and they graze without damaging the terrain. Unique in their ability to produce up to 28 natural colors, alpacas offer a range of shades from inky black to snowy white. The fiber is also easily dyed while retaining its natural luster.
