WHAT IS SPLIT LEATHER?
Second-layer bovine leather, also known as split leather or leather with a transfer film, is a thick leather produced by machine-splitting the hide. This type of leather retains what remains after processing the top (first) layer of bovine hide, and it maintains a certain degree of elasticity and pliability. Split leather also offers a degree of environmental benefit, as it makes full use of bovine leather resources and reduces waste, whilst still preserving the original surface characteristics of the leather.
